Girls Junior Varsity Tennis, Girls Varsity Tennis · Women’s Tennis Team making strides

It’s been an uphill battle for the Women’s Tennis team so far this season. The team has 8 members which is 4 short of a full Varsity team. They start every match down 2-0 where 5 points gives you a victory. Their 0-7 current record is correct but doesn’t tell the story of how hard the team is working to get better.

On Saturday at the Loy Norrix Invitational, the team scored 6 points and landed in 4th place. They were two points behind Berrien Springs and just one point behind Plainwell. They finished three points ahead of Battle Creek Central.

Schoolcraft won the Invitational with 18 points and won every flight except #2 Singles where Junior Mey Wong won the title. Junior Kiristina Hubbell scored a point at #1 Singles, Junior Grace Augustine scored 2 points at #3 Singles, and Sophomore Zoe Srackangast scored a point at #4 Singles.

The Tennis Season is like every other Spring Sport where the schedule moves quickly. We are just 3 weeks away from the Regional Tournament. Before then, the team will face Battle Creek Central and Plainwell with excellent opportunities to get that first team win.

This is a young team that will keep improving as they continue to get better by putting in the court time.
