As the Fall Sports Season continues to wind down, here are some updates:
Women’s Cross Country: Senior Jade Hubbard finished 11th at the MHSAA Regional on Saturday at Portage West Middle School. She will run in the Division 1 Race at 3:00 P.M. in the MHSAA Cross Country State Finals at MIS. The Women’s Team finished 9th overall. Freshman Josie Fiore finished 21st overall.
Men’s Cross Country: The team finished 11th at the MHSAA Regional on Saturday at Portage West MS. Andrew Levy was the top finisher for LN in 49th place.
The Varsity Volleyball team went 1-3 and finished in 12th place at the SMAC Tournament on Saturday at Battle Creek Central. The one win was a big one. The team defeated Kalamazoo Central 25-20, 25-19 to avenge and earlier defeat this season. Their record is now 8-34-2 heading into the MHSAA District Tournament this week. The Knights will face either #11 Portage Central or Kalamazoo Central in the semi-finals on Thursday at 5:30 P.M. at Mattawan. The Knight drew a first round bye.
Congratulations to Senior Erin Romph for being selected to the SMAC East Division Team. Erin missed the first half of the season with a broken foot but came back strong. Erin was an Honorable Mention selection.
After finishing with a school best 18-5 record, the post season honors have started to come in.
Junior Jay Mcintosh, and Seniors Troy Swodzinski, Andrew Labadie, Austin Lee, and TJ Chaponda were named to the SMAC East Division Team.
Seniors Alejandro Soto and Nick Nizzardini along with Junior Stokley Eller were named to the SMAC East Honorable Mention list.
Katie Cox and Jenna Burkey have qualified for the MHSAA Diving Regional to be held on 11/13 at East Grand Rapids High School.You must win 5 meets during the season to qualify or if you and your teammate beat all of the other opponents 5 times that works as well. The top 12 divers at the Regional will advance to the MHSAA State Finals on 11/16 and 11/17 at Oakland University.
The Swimmers will compete in the SMAC East Division Meet on Friday at Saturday at Harper Creek High School. Swimming both days begins at Noon.
